Karanga Kiosk. Fundamentally, a hub for news, events and general information about the goings-on of Wynyard Quarter. The design coincided with the Auckland Harbour Bridge lights which were powered by one of the Tesla batteries located in the Kiosk.

The concept was based around the values of Wynyard Quarter - Retreat, Living Richly, Reimagine, Rejuvenate and to Roam. A nod to natural materials of slate flooring, handcrafted wood from boats, shipping container remains and urban moss contrasting with bright acrylics representing the vibrant lifestyle culture that Wynyard enthuses.

The interior can be experienced through a series of zones - Beginning with the large scale model, to a collaborative leaner by Tim Webber, meets a custom made touch screen user-face for the visitor to interact with events and information on the area. These units were purposely built at a varied height for outside view at night. The back wall is framed with a sprawling urban moss circle centred with a laser-cut logo from the old shipping container that once stood there. Lastly the imaginative elements of the pivoting sails that each live a ‘Wynyard Value’. Congruent to the sails, the counter has desk mounted info IPADs. Visitors (or Wynyard dwellers) can vote for their next preferred event with the compartmentalised token front. All of which houses the heart of the Kiosk - the Tesla Powerwall and Solar Storage, a nod to the sustainable culture of rejuvenation.
